frequently asked questions

Product Information

CANADIAN ARCTIC MELT™ Snow Melting Agent is used to remove ice and snow on roads, parking lots and sidewalks. Our product is used in a variety of applications including commercial buildings, municipalities and public works, snow removal companies, residential settings including stratas and condominiums, hospitals and care homes, schools and campuses, and retail shopping centers.

CANADIAN ARCTIC MELT™ Snow Melting Agent is a proprietary blend of three active ingredients: Sodium Chloride, Calcium Chloride, and Magnesium Chloride. This blend has a high melting capacity at extreme temperatures as low as -32°C / -25°F which accelerates melting for best performance.

CANADIAN ARCTIC MELT™ Snow Melting Agent is safe around vegetation and is also pet-friendly. When used as directed, our de-icing product is less harmful to grass, concrete and shrubs compared to other leading ice melt brands.

CANADIAN ARCTIC MELT™ Snow Melting Agent is anti-corrosive resulting in less damage to vehicles, equipment, and other metal surfaces. It is safe for use on properly air-entrained concrete, when used as directed.

Here is a small amount of CANADIAN ARCTIC MELT™ Snow Melting Agent, about one cup. As you can see, the flakes are small and flat, and adhere instantly to the surface, unlike pellets which tend to bounce and roll.

Application Information

For best results, first remove all loose snow and slush from roadways, steps and walks. Apply de-icing flakes evenly across surface to be covered. Shovel off resulting slush. Thick accumulations of ice may require additional applications.

Apply ¼ to ½ cup per square yard (50-100 grams per square meter) depending on the amount of ice or snow on the surfaces.

For bulk applications on roadways and parking lots, apply with a truck spreader or thrower. Apply product directly onto road surfaces. You can also mix our Snow Melting Agent with sand piles to keep from freezing and/or apply the sand mixture onto the road surfaces. There is no set rate of application. Work with the product and the weather conditions to find the results that work best for you.
